If I obtain UAE residency or citizenship, am I protected from a Red Notice?

UAE nationals cannot be extradited under Article 38 of Federal Law No. 39/2006, but holding residency alone offers no such protection. Residents remain subject to provisional arrest and extradition proceedings like any foreign national. If you naturalize as an Emirati citizen while proceedings are pending, extradition becomes legally impossible, though the UAE may prosecute you domestically for offences committed abroad under certain conditions. Immigration status decisions are entirely separate from Interpol matters—authorities can revoke residency based on an active Red Notice regardless of your business ties or property ownership.
