A Red Notice is not an arrest warrant and does not obligate the UAE to extradite. However, UAE authorities may detain you while the requesting country submits a formal extradition request through diplomatic channels. The UAE has bilateral extradition treaties with limited countries and generally will not extradite its own nationals. Extradition decisions depend on whether the alleged offence is criminalized under UAE law, whether political motivations exist, and whether fair trial guarantees are met. The process typically takes 6–18 months, during which bail is rarely granted for serious allegations.
