Standard CCF review timelines range from nine to eighteen months, though complex cases involving extensive documentary evidence or multiple requesting states may extend beyond two years. Interpol’s General Secretariat conducts an initial review, after which the CCF examines submissions from both the subject and the requesting National Central Bureau. Urgent requests can sometimes be expedited where there is imminent risk of arrest or demonstrable procedural abuse. The strongest applications—those with well-documented evidence of political motivation or fair trial concerns—tend to receive more favourable and faster outcomes.
